Valkyrie Movie - Stauffenberg, Wolf's Lair

I didn't think this movie can be that good, Tom Cruise doesn't strike me as a very solid actor, and let's face it, we knew that his character wasn't going to succeed in killing Hitler. But the thing is we see in Valkyrie that Cruise almost succeeded. The suspense was great, I was in the second part really on the edge of my bed. The story of colonel Stauffenberg is really one good made and put into images. Hitler was hell of a lucky one, surviving that C4 blast. Thank god he killed himself months later, probably he got bored with all the failed assassination attempts. It was quite fascinating to see how well organized and in place was the german power machine, especially the highly trained SS army. How many failover systems and triggers (like the Valkyrie operation) they designed, in order to restore power.

I liked Tom Wilkinson' character very much, the general Fromm, he was like a snake, very careful taking sides, not taking any action but waiting on the outcome. I think he knew the whole time what Stauffenberg has in mind, but kept quiet about it. In the end, seeing that the outcome is not favorable, he switched sides, and put the coup members to the firing squad. Great surviving skills, I might say, general Fromm did survive this, but not for long, luckily it was still war going on, and the allies were on their way.

Again I thought about visiting the well-known Hitler residences, the palaces in Austria and the bunkers in wolf's lair. The imagery in the Valkyrie film is great.
Don't see the movie on a Sunday, it's kind of deep, Valkyrie is not a popcorn movie.

Doubt Movie :) many oscar nominations

but nada in the end for Meryl Streep. She waited with her posse the whole evening at the Academy Awards, but there were only compliments and smart jokes that she received.
Kate Winslet for example said something like: I can't believe I'm on the same listing with Meryl Streep, but I'm glad I got this Oscar. Meryl, you have to suck it up!

It’s 1964, St. Nicholas in the Bronx. But when Sister James, a hopeful innocent, shares with Sister Aloysius her guilt-inducing suspicion that Father Flynn is paying too much personal attention to Donald, Sister Aloysius sets off on a personal crusade to unearth the truth and to expunge Flynn from the school. Now, without a shard of proof besides her moral certainty, Sister Aloysius locks into a battle of wills with Father Flynn which threatens to tear apart the community with irrevocable consequence.

Inkheart - adventure with Brendan Fraser

Inkheart is a very enjoyable film, Paul Bettany's performance as Dustfinger , he absolutely stole the film. Did anyone sense that sexual tension, the
Dustfinger's "love-hate" attitude towards Farid and Farid's attachment to Dustfinger?

The Inkheart story is ingenious and bright, the directing from Ian Softley is fast-paced. they took the book from Cornelia Funke and put it into film version, with a few (major) changes

Brendan Fraser can make any character or object from a book come to life and he discovered this power too late. When his daughter was a small child, he read her the book Inkheart, unleashing the Dustfinger (Paul Bettany) and the bandit Capricorn (Andy Serkis) and his gang. As they came out, his wife Ressa (Sienna Guillroy) went in. 9 years later, Mo is traveling with his daughter Meggie (Eliza Hope Bennett) to live with the Aunt (Helen Mirren), but more importantly to find another copy of the book so he can set his wife free. Just he is confronted by Dustfinger, who desperately wants to go back home, and Capricorn, who has built quite a life for himself in the real world and wants Mo to read to make him more dominant, including putting the baddest villain from Inkheart, The Shadow, in his control.
